Migrating from Fax Voip version 6.1.1 - 6.4.1 to version 6.5.1

This file contains important information for users who have a valid Fax Voip "Version 6" license and want to upgrade to version 6.5.1.

CHANGES IN VERSION 6.5.1

Please note that architecture of the program has undergone significant changes in Fax Voip version 6.5.1. The main differences from previous versions are as follows:

 Removed the requirement to always run the program with administrator privileges.
 Common application settings are used for all users.
 All user data, settings and logs are moved to standard Application Data folder like required.
 Basic program settings are moved to a single location (settings.ini configuration file).

SAVING OLD CONFIGURATION AND FILES

When upgrading from version 6.4.1 or earlier, the previous settings and files are imported automatically and without confirmations. The automatic procedure works on the condition that you did not run the uninstaller of the previous version manually. The second condition is to install the new version to the same folder in which you have version 6.4.1 or earlier installed.

Note that there is no backward compatibility between 6.5.1 and earlier versions, ie you can not move the imported configuration (SIP, H.323, CAPI 2.0, Call Routing, Fax, Email etc...) back to version 6.4.1 or earlier.

To save your old configuration with possibility to use with older versions, use the Fax Voip Backup or Restore Wizard before removal the old version. The Fax Voip Backup or Restore Wizard is not included in Fax Voip version 6.4.1 or earlier, you can download it from our website: http://www.t38faxvoip.com/downloads/FVBackup.exe

The Fax Voip Backup or Restore Wizard can be started from any location on your computer.

LICENCES

After upgrading to version 6.5.1 your SystemID may change, although in most cases, will remain the same.
On Windows XP or Windows 2003, you can continue to use the license you have despite the change of SystemID (the same computer). If Fax Voip installed on computer with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 / 8.1, Windows 2008 (include R2) or Windows 2012 (include R2) and your SystemID changed, we strongly recommend you to ask for replacement of your license key. This can be done for free. Otherwise Fax Voip version 6.5.1 or later can not to see your old license under a regular user account and not to function properly.

When you upgrade from version 6.4.1 or earlier to version 6.5.1, perform the following steps:

1. Open Fax Voip FaxModem Control Panel. To do this click Start, point to All Programs, point to Fax Voip T38 Fax & Voice; click Fax Voip Control Panel.
2. Click License in TreeView, then click Register.
3. The section To order License Key in the FaxVoip Licensing window indicates your computer's unique System ID. Compare this SystemID with SystemID specified in your license (version 6.1.1 - 6.4.1). If they match, no further action is required. If you find that SystemID changed, follow the next steps.
4. In Windows Explorer open the folder where Fax Voip installed. Usually Fax Voip installed in the C:\Program Files\FaxVoip folder.
5. Run IDCheck.exe tool. Administrator privileges are required.
6. Copy and paste the new SystemID in your document (e-mail).
7. Copy and paste the Verification code in your document (e-mail). Verification code is required to verify that the Fax Voip really running on the computer for which you have valid license for versions 6.1.1-6.4.1.
8. The email with new SystemID and Verification code should be sent to sales@t38faxvoip.com.
9. After receiving the new license key follow the instructions in the chapter "To Add/Change License" in the user manual.
