To send/receive faxes and voice messages via Virtual COM Ports (modems), it is necessary that an external fax program has been installed on your computer and configured to operate with Fax Voip T.38 Modem. Fax Voip T.38 Modem can operate with any standard fax program that can operate with COM ports directly or via modem driver. Examples of settings and usage with different fax software are considered in the Using Fax Voip T.38 Modem with Fax & Voice Soft chapter. Please note that after installation of Fax Voip T.38 Modem, the Fax Voip modems are automatically configured for using with Windows Fax Service. Before configuring any other standard fax/voice software, you should manually disable sending and receiving faxes in Windows Fax and Scan (Fax Service Manager), see To configure the Windows Fax Service.

When configuring Fax Voip T.38 Modem, pay attention to the Restart Microsoft Fax Service at startup option (in the Fax Voip T.38 Modem Control Panel click Fax in TreeView). The Restart Microsoft Fax Service at startup option is recommended whenever Fax Voip T.38 Modem operates with Windows Fax Service. When Fax Voip T.38 Modem starts, Windows Fax Service restarts. If you are using the Fax Voip T.38 Modem with another fax program, for example with FaxTalk Messenger Pro 7.5, do not use this option and uncheck it.

More details about sending faxes via e-mail soft and receiving faxes to e-mail can be found in the Mail to Fax - Microsoft Fax, Route through e-mail Incoming Routing Method (Microsoft Fax) and E-mail Delivery Receipts Outgoing Routing Method (Microsoft Fax) chapters of this user manual. It is recommended to configure these features only after you have successfully configured Fax Voip T.38 Modem to send and receive faxes.

To configure the various additional Fax Voip T.38 Modem functions, you should read the corresponding chapters of this user manual.
