Placing a Call On Hold

Parent Previous Next

The accepted incoming or outgoing voice call can be placed On Hold. To place the call On Hold, click Line button. Note that selecting another line also puts an existing call On Hold without hanging up.

When the call is On Hold, the Call On Hold message is displayed in the Info panel and the line is flashing yellow.

To resume a call, click the line that is On Hold.

You can configure Fax Voip Softphone so that the caller who is put on hold listens to Music On Hold while waiting on the phone. To configure Music On Hold, click Settings in the main toolbar, in the Fax Voip SoftPhone Control Panel click Play/Record in the treeview. Tick Play music when On Hold option and browse to a preferred Music On Hold File. A Music On Hold File must be an 8 kHz 16-bit Mono or 8 kHz 8-bit Mono wave file (.wav). In the Fax Voip SoftPhone Control Panel click Apply to save settings. See also in the Call Recording and Playback Settings chapter of this manual. To create the audio file that is suitable for using as Music On Hold File, you can use the procedure described in the Send an audio message with Create Audio Message Wizard chapter of this user manual. To save the audio file somewhere on your hard drive, use the Save as... button in the Create Audio Message Wizard.

If the call is On Hold and the Music On Hold is played, the PLAY indicator is displayed in the Info panel.
